MARYVIEW MEDICAL CENTER
Responsible for registration and pre-registration of all patients, to include a professional patient interview, accurate insurance and computer coding, and appropriate documentation of the events surrounding the interview. Assist with new employee training, quality assurance auditing, and provides feedback to management regarding weaknesses and areas of improvement. Performs ICD-9 coding and assists with the follow-up of accounts that require more detail. Prioritizes patient population and ensures that patient confidentiality is maintained. Communicates with physician's office staff regarding registration and/or admission orders. Maintains knowledge of all policies and procedures and communicates these to the patient when appropriate. Ensure that all necessary paperwork is decimated to the appropriate locations and maintains control of the demographic material needed to complete the patient's medical record.
Work requires ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and communicate effectively at a level generally acquired through completion of high school education.
Knowledge of insurance verification/pre-certification, and benefits with preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in patient registration/health care.
Ability to perform in multiple computer applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in ICD-9 coding is preferred.
Work requires proficient keyboard skills with an average speed of 40 wpm.
Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills; prefers at least one year customer service experience.
Must be able to work under considerable stress using tact and diplomacy.
Must demonstrate the ability to work independently problem solve and be able to resolve conflict.
Demonstrates organizational skills.
Must demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
