Bon Secours Mercy Health Language Services Coordinator in Richmond, Virginia

Primary Function:

The Language Services Coordinator assists in the scheduling and coordination of on-site or face-to-face language resources necessary for the provision of advanced interpreting work in the medical field and community in order to meet our clients' needs in accordance with the ethics and laws governing language service provision. The coordinator oversees the daily scheduling of interpreters across the BSMH footprint, coordinates clients’ requests and communication, and assists in general customer service and client care duties.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answers incoming calls from associates requesting interpreters for the BSMH System.

  • Serves as first contact customer service for issues, questions and concerns related to interpreters, interpretation or any other communication from interpreters, clients, patients or potential clients, escalating any issue to management as needed..

  • Provides sound judgement in the selection and utilization of interpreters.

  • Tracks on call time/expenses for hospital and agency interpreters for Managers’ monthly report.

  • Responsible for adjusting interpreters’ times and schedules to minimize cost.

  • Participates in service evaluations and continuous quality improvement along with department manager.

  • Promotes and maintains positive professional relationships with customers, contractors and staff.

  • Maintains Department emails as record of communication and for use in the identification of trends and to track department needs and changes.

  • Answers incoming telephone calls, triages need of callers and maintains clear and timely communication with in house staff, contract interpreters and customers to ensure confirmation of requested services and customer satisfaction.

  • Responds to service requests with emails and/or phone calls for confirmation to both customers and assigned Interpreter.

  • Schedules and records assignments for all three programs. Utilizes the service specific methodology for scheduling and recording all assignments and staff schedules.

  • Responsible for generating all billing and invoices and works in close coordination with Verstaex to ensure that invoices, both received and generated are done in a timely manner.

Other:

High School Diploma required, 2 year degree preferred

Bilingual Preferred
