Bon Secours Mercy Health Community Clinical Dietician in Richmond, Virginia

  • Community Clinical Dietitian- Community Nutrition Programs

  • Program Development and Evaluation:

  • Every year leads several adult disease prevention & management programs and provides technical supervision of adult programs led by contracted instructors.

  • Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates community-based nutrition care and education programs for chronic diseases in youth and adult persons such as obesity, diabetes, diabetes prevention, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.

  • Implements plans for expansion or revision of present program and services to meet the changing needs of the population.

  • Coordinates and collaborates with organizations to improve the nutritional health of the population, such as schools, businesses, and seniors.

  • Prepares and documents program and class outlines, objectives, participation records, evaluation measures, and analysis of behavior changes. Uses data collected to validate effectiveness of services.

  • Care-a-Van Patient Support

  • Provide backup individual nutrition counseling services for Care-A-Van patients, when additional counseling resources are needed.

  • Documents in CAV patient medical records nutritional requirements, patients’ progress, education and follow up in accordance with the standards of Nutrition Care Process while ensuring compliance with the privacy act, HIPPA and applicable Bon Secours policies.

  • Training and Resource Development

  • Reviews, identifies, and evaluates appropriate educational materials on basic nutrition topics, as identified by community assessment.

  • May serve as liaison, preceptor for students attending local colleges and universities.

  • Clinical Nutrition Oversight of Community Programs

  • Provides technical and clinical oversight of all community nutrition outreach programs and curriculum to ensure that they meet scientific and regulatory nutrition standards.

  • Recruits, manages, and evaluates education and wellness contractors utilized for leading nutrition programs or providing specific instruction components for programs. This includes managing the process to set up contractors as BSR vendors and to provide them with the appropriate IT accounts as needed.

Shared CNO team responsibilities

  • Collaborates with CNO team in planning and executing community events

Employment Qualifications

Education -

Required Minimum Education: Bachelors of Science

Specialty/Major: Nutrition from accredited university

Licensing/ Certification -

Licensure/Certification Required: Registered Dietitian in State of Practice

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Diabetes Educator

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years of experience in chronic disease nutritional counseling

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidence-based methods and practices of care delivery, with an emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaborative with patients, non-clinical staff, clinical staff and project team. Effective oral and written communication skills.
