Scheduler for Sleep Lab – Maryview Medical Center

Summary of Primary Function:

Responsible for managing patient appointments for overnight and home study sleep test and ensuring the smooth operation of the sleep lab, including scheduling, coordinating patient flow, and maintaining accurate records, reports to the Sleep lab supervisor and or Director. Register, schedule, document pertinent medical information, charge clinic visits and sleep studies. Perform front end functions necessary for physician practice and sleep disorder center.

Employment Qualifications:

Required Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED

Experience: Requires knowledge of medical terminology preferred,

Physician office and insurance pre-certification requirements experience

is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Registers and schedules patients proficiently in multiple computer systems for physician clinic and sleep center appointments and procedures

  • Obtains pre-authorization/ referrals for clinic and studies

  • Greets and provides clinic and study patients with all necessary paperwork and documents in the patient record

  • Collects co-payments at time of services (clinic)

  • Reviews insurance coverage with patient or guarantor, explaining deductible or co-pay responsibilities

  • Creates daily deposits and communicates with CBO in a timely manner

  • Effectively manages claims and hold buckets for clinic patients

  • Enters charges for services or procedures performed

  • Obtains and documents appropriate medical history in the patient record

  • Communicates promptly and professionally with physician offices

  • Screens patients prior to arrival to ensure special needs are addressed and able to be met

  • Enters and ensures physician orders are present

  • Reviews specifics about procedures and visits and reviews all instructions with patients prior to arrival

  • Contacts patients by phone for confirmation of appointments, times, and instructions

  • Communicates effectively with technical and leadership staff for multiple sleep center locations

  • Completes assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation adjusting to variation in workload

  • Adheres to department and hospital policies and procedures

  • Performs quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation

  • Safeguards the privacy of medical information in the record.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

  • Provides patient care to pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics

  • Coordinates home health care services for PAP therapy.
