THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT MOUNT PLEASANT HOSPITAL

HOURS: 3:00pm - 11:30pm, includes every other weekend.

Job Summary : Perform functions dealing with large technical equipment, strong chemicals, and technical skills in terminal cleaning Operating Surgical Suites for Hospital areas to maintain an orderly, attractive, and sanitary environment. This includes using the proper procedures for each of the specialty areas within the suite to meet various regulatory (DHEC, EPA, OSHA, etc.) standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager within the Support Services Department including but not limited to Patient Escort, Dietary, Linen and Security.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. In lieu of high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 12 months of job experience in a similar or related field may be considered. Basic reading comprehension skills required. For those without a GED or High School diploma, a passing result for a reading comprehension assessment is required for this position. The assessment will be administered during the interview process by a Human Resources representative.

Experience: Hospital experience in terminal clearing in a surgical application or equivalent field preferred. Will consider experience in an applicable field.

Licensure/Certification : None required.

Knowledge/Skills : A basic knowledge of all relative codes (ie. DHEC, TJC, OSHA, EPA, AND LIFE SAFETY CODES) is required. Requires a working knowledge of the correct procedures for terminally cleaning specialty areas. Requires the ability to communicate effectively and work well with all levels of supervision, patients, the public, and other health care workers. Must have the ability to recognize malfunctions of the equipment, report accurately any equipment not performing at it’s optimal level for repairs, remain calm in a fast-paced or hostile environment, and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Professional and neat appearance is required to project a positive image of Roper Saint Francis Healthcare. Must maintain strict confidentiality of all work-related information.

Other: This position has limited access to Medication and Par Rooms. Medications should not be handled at any time. Any questions should be directed to your supervisor or the charge nurse of the unit in question.

Work Demands/Environment :

Constant standing. Frequent walking, bending, stooping and stretching. Frequent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling of weight up to 35 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Intermittent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Possible exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, toxic substances, biohazardous materials and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Constant exposure to wet or humid (non-weather) conditions. Intermittent exposure to risk of electrical shock. Moderate to loud noise level in work area. Requires hand-eye coordination. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
