Pharmacy Resident – Lorain Hospital
Job Summary:
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Pharm.D. education and outcomes to develop clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. Residents are eligible for board certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties and PGY2 pharmacy residency training. Previous residents of the PGY1 Program obtained PGY2 positions in various specialties including Ambulatory Care and Infectious Diseases. Furthermore, residents fulfill their career goals by acquiring positions as clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacists within the organization. Our residents train under qualified, experienced preceptors who prepare them for a career in pharmacy practice.
Essential Functions:
Understand all aspects of the medication use process in a complex health system.
Providing evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy using an interdisciplinary approach
Demonstrate proficiency in providing pharmaceutical care for various patient populations.
Participate in pharmacy practice leadership activities to advance the profession.
Educate patients and health care providers on effective and safe drug use.
Incorporate medical informatics into the medication use process.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. (required)
Licensure/Certification:
- Current state licensure as a Pharmacist within three months of starting Program (required)
Skills & Abilities:
High level of analytical ability needed to interpret patient data relevant to drug therapy.
Interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with patients and health care practitioners.
Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of: 1) general hospital and pharmacy procedures 2) Pharmaceutical procedures as they relate to storage, preparation, and dispensing of medication 3) Patient care as it relates to drug therapy
