Job Summary:

The Registered Dietician (RD) uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to address four components, which include: Inpatient, Outpatient, Education/Outreach and Wellness services. The RD will be responsible for directing and providing medical nutritional therapy to inpatients and outpatients. The RD assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling. The RD will counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits and nutrition monitoring. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the VP of Operations, the RD will assist in monitoring food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards.

Job Function:

Performs inpatient and outpatient dietary and nutritional counseling/consultation/education services.

Ensures competency for all personnel working in Dietary: checking special diets for accuracy, assuring patient tray cards agree with physician’s orders, and patient tray setup.

Maintains current regulatory requirements for dietary and nutritional services.

Develops Dietary Department Continuous Quality Improvement indicators and participates in ongoing evaluation/performance improvement related to findings of these efforts.

Develops and implements policies and procedures for the department.

Provides orientation and ongoing training education for department.

Performs assessment and data collection and establishes outcome criteria; obtains reviews and analyzes information in collaboration with patients, family members and health care team members

Collaborates with nursing staff on swing bed patients and monitors patient weights.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of current practices

Other duties as assigned.

Required:

Kentucky Registered Dietitian Licensure
