Roper St. Francis Nuclear Med Technologist - Radiology - Various Locations ($5,000 Sign On) in Charleston, South Carolina

Work Locations: Primary work location is the West Ashley Cancer Center (West Ashley) although the position will float as needed to other locations including BSSF Hospital (West Ashley), Roper Hospital (Downtown Charleston), Berkeley Hospital (Summerville), and Mount Pleasant Hospital (Mount Pleasant).

Work Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:40pm + on call Rotating On Call Requirements (Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am - 4:00pm) every 3-5 weeks.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Nuclear Medicine Tech is committed to applying the skills and art of nuclear medicine imaging through safe and effective use of radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Administers radionuclide therapy.

• Prepares, performs QC and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals for off hour procedures.

• Performs urgent Nuclear Medicine procedures in an on-call status or in a single technologist staffing model

• Checks the order for complete information and proper exam and schedules exams as needed.

• Obtains sufficient information to determine whether the exam should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.

• Determines if additional technical support is required and follows the proper procedure for obtaining support.

• Adheres to established section and organizational protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

• Interacts appropriately with patients and all care providers.

Imaging Procedures

• Coordinates the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions

when needed.

• Reviews images to determine if they are of diagnostic quality and adjusts factors if an image needs to be repeated.

• Starts and maintains intravenous (IV) access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.

• Identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.

• Procures, prepares quality control, calculates, identifies, documents, administers, disposes, stores and safely handles of radiopharmaceuticals and other radioactive materials.

Licensing/Certification

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) (required)

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Education

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Work Experience

1 year of experience practicing Nuclear Medicine experience (preferred)
