Bon Secours Mercy Health Occupational Therapist in Lorain, Ohio

General Summary

The Occupational Therapist establishes and evaluates treatment programs for patients whose abilities to perform daily living tasks and vocational tasks normally performed at his/her stage of development are threatened or impaired by developmental deficiencies, the aging process, environmental deprivation, physical illness, injury, perceptual, cognitive and psychosocial deficits. Teaches patients, family members, and students. Participates in program development and quality assurance.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor of Science degree or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at an accredited university.

Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Ohio.

Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association is required.

AOTA membership is desirable.

Good interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with physicians and other clinicians patients and families.

Requires critical observation skills and creative problem-solving abilities.

Must be able to apply activity analysis in the selection/adaptation of therapeutic activities.

Working Conditions

Moderate level (50% or more of time) of physical exertion required. Frequent exposure (up to 80% of the time) to adverse conditions. When inside a well-lighted, air-conditioned environment. May involve traveling for facility design evaluations, home evaluations, community reintegration activities, and Satellite operations. Frequent exposure to physical and mental disabilities, pain, grief, and death. May be exposed to contagious disease or infection.

Reports to Coordinator of Department and Director of Rehab.
